LCD panel keeps showing"Connecting to controller"

LCD panel keeps showing"Connecting to controller"

Problem description:

The LCD panel keeps showing "Connecting the controller" even if reboot the machine.

Reasons:

1. Controller board is faulty

The controller board is faulty.

Solution:
Turning the machine on, open the right side door and see if the light 14 is on/flashing.

If not, the controller board is faulty.
If yes, go next step.

2. LCD panel is faulty

The LCD panel is faulty.

Solution:

Unplug the connector of LCD panel.

See if the laser head will go to top left corner, and then go to the last origin you set.

If yes, the LCD panel is faulty. Please contact us:tech@thunderlaser.com.

If not, go back to last step, check the controller board.

3. HMI Terminal Contact Issue / Oxidation

If unplugging and reconnecting the HMI terminals sometimes allows the machine to start and reset, but sometimes it does not, the terminals may have poor contact or oxidation.
Check and clean the HMI terminals, then use a multimeter to test if the terminals are connected.

How to use a MultiMeter

Steps:

  1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the control panel.
  2. Locate the HMI terminals.
  3. Measure the connectivity between terminals, making sure each terminal is tested with its corresponding pair.

If the HMI terminals are found to be connected, proceed to the next check.

If not (terminals are not connected), it is recommended to try testing with a replacement HMI cable.

4. Controller Lacks 24V Input Voltage

If the controller has no 24V input, it may cause insufficient power and affect normal system operation.

You need to measure the voltage on the power input of the Ruida Controller. You must be on a DC voltage setting, not AC.
Some meters will auto detect, but not all. If the leads are reversed when measuring, you will get a negative voltage which is ok. As long as the value is near 24.

If you have 24VDC on that connector but no Red LEDs illuminated on the controller then the controller is dead and needs replacement.

If you do not have 24V, it could be a few other issues like the 24VDC supply is dead or a wiring issue at the terminal blocks or even a device pulling down the 24VDC, email tech@thunderlaser.com for further guidance.

End.
