Connecting an Aurora to EzCad/Lightburn

Connecting an Aurora to EzCad/Lightburn

Read this first

  1. Driver is very important. Incorrect or uninstalled drivers can prevent the laser software from connecting to the machine.
  2. LightBurn and EzCad2 drivers cannot be installed on the same computer at the same time, only one of them can be used.
  3. EzCad2/3 only supports Windows OS.

Connection Steps

You will need these items to install and set up successfully.

  • U-disk that came with the machine.

  • The USB cable that came with the machine.

    d. Completed USB driver installation

  3. Now you can use EzCad2 for marking.
    a. Open the EzCad2 software on the U-disk that came with the machine.
Software path: U-disk that came with the machine >>Fiber/UV software >> EzCad2/EZCAD_LITE

    b. When the software does not display "Demo version-only for evaluation", the connection is successful.

If it still shows up in demo mode, please follow the above steps to reinstall it again, if it still doesn't work after reinstallation, please contact us.

LightBurn

  1. Connect the Aurora to the PC via the USB cable.

  2. Download the LightBurn software.
Before downloading the LightBurn software, check out this article on choosing the right software version for your computer.
    Downloading & Installing LightBurn

    Download Link:
    https://lightburnsoftware.com/pages/download-trial
  3. Run the LightBurn installer and at the last screen, check "Install EzCad2 driver".
Please note that EzCad2 and LightBurn drivers may conflict, causing LightBurn driver installation to fail.
Be sure to uninstall the EzCad2 driver before installing the LightBurn driver.

If this box is not checked during the first installation, you can simply run the installer again, and select this box to ensure the driver is installed for use.
Windows will prompt you for permissions escalation to install it, and quickly replace the driver provided by default with one LightBurn can use to communicate with your Galvo-based laser.

Alternately, the installer for the driver is in the LightBurn files at "C:\Program Files\LightBurn\EzCad2Driver\" and can be run again via the "dpinst-x64.exe" file directly.

  4. Please activate the software and make sure your license key supports Galvo.

  5. Create a new device in Lightburn.

For this part of the installation, you will need to plug the U-disk that came with the machine into the computer.
The EzCad Config file and the Lens Cor. (calibration) file are machine-specific and are required for the machine to work properly.
You can find the EzCad Config file in this path: U-disk that came with machine >AURORA 8/AURORA 8 UV>Fiber/UV software>EzCad2/EzCad2_LITE>plug

When you import the correct configuration file, it will display the correct configuration summary for the machine, such as the Path to the calibration file, Laser Type, Field Size, etc.

Using multiple lenses will be a good idea to name that Device in conjunction with the associated lens.

You must create a new device for each lens because the lens correction files and calibrations differ for each optic.

  1. Verify That the Door Sensor Setup is Correct.
Note: After importing the EzCad Config file, "Door Protect" will not be synchronized and needs to be set manually to ensure proper functionality.
Open the Device setting>>Modify "Door Protect" to 15 and Low.

Failure to input the correct setting in this section for Doors will allow the machine to run with the lid open. You must complete this step before operation.

  2. Now you can use LightBurn for marking.
A successful connection will show Ready.

If it still shows as disconnected, please follow the above steps to reinstall it, if it still doesn't work after reinstallation, please contact us.

Loading the COR file

It is recommended to load the COR file again, as its path in the configuration file may not match the path on your computer, causing the field lens correction file to not be enabled.
Load the corresponding COR file according to your field lens.

COR file path: U-disk that came with the machine>AURORA 8/AURORA 8 UV>Fiber software/UV software>Correction file.

In EzCad2 and EzCad3

Please refer to the following troubleshooting article to load the COR file.

An error "cannot open correct file" when running EzCad2 or 3

In LightBurn

Open the Device Setting according to the following schematic, click Load COR file, and select the corresponding COR file.
