Touch Panel's Controller and HMI Firmware Upgrade Method

The Bolt series is equipped with either a resistive or a capacitive touch panel.

When upgrading the HMI, please make sure to select the correct firmware accordingly:

• GT5-HMI-V20.03.35 (20251118).hmt – for Resistive Touch Screens
• GT5C-HMI-V26.03.12 (20251119).hmt – for Capacitive Touch Screens

NOTE: To update the required firmware files, please contact us: tech@thunderlaser.com.

The HMI firmware must be updated before the controller firmware can be updated. And please don't turn off the machine during the firmware update process.

HMI Firmware Upgrade:

It takes about ten minutes to update the HMI firmware and one minute to update the controller firmware.

Step 1: First, you need to save the firmware file to the U disk (You can use the U disk that comes with the machine) > Insert the U disk into the panel.

Note: It can recognize common U disks with less than 128 GB of memory. The firmware file to be upgraded needs to be placed in the root directory of the U disk. 

Not in a folder, and the U disk can only place one HMI firmware file and one controller firmware.

Step 2: Menu > U disk > HMI.

 Step 3: Waiting the update > Click OK.

After updating the HMI firmware, do not restart the machine; please update the controller firmware directly.

After updating to the latest panel firmware mentioned above, two new features will be added: Factory Settings and Lens Change.

Controller Firmware Upgrade:

Please wait until the controller firmware update is complete before restarting the machine.

There are two methods to update the controller firmware.
Method 1: Upgrade through the panel.
Method 2: Upgrade via the RDWorks software.
Please refer to the following sections for detailed operation steps.  

Method 1 by panel.

Step 1: First, you need to save the firmware file to the U disk (You can use the U disk that comes with the machine) > Insert the U disk into the panel.

Note: It can recognize common U disks with less than 128 GB of memory. The firmware file to be upgraded needs to be placed in the root directory of the U disk. 

Not in a folder, and the U disk can place one firmware file.

Step 2: Menu > U disk > Board or Controller. 

Step 3: Waiting for the update > Wait until you see the success prompt and click close.

Step 4: Wait for the firmware to install > See the success interface and click OK.

Step 5: Manual > Reset > OK > Restart the machine.

Method 2 by RDWorks.

Step 1: Successfully connect the machine and RDWorks> Config > System setting > Controller > Read > Upgrade Firmware.

Step 2: Choose the firmware we provide.

Step 3: Wait for the update to complete.

Step 4: Confirm the update is complete on the panel and restart the machine.
