Applies to: Aurora Series Machines equipped with the Auto-Door feature
Article Type: Advisory & Software/Firmware Update
At Thunder Laser Canada, we are committed to continuous product quality and performance improvements.
We have identified an edge-case scenario on select Aurora Series machines equipped with an automatic door. If a laser job is initiated directly from your laser control software (e.g., LightBurn or RDWorks) while the auto-door is mid-operation (still opening), the motion system may not immediately reflect the updated door status.
To address this, we have developed a firmware optimization for the AutoFocus Board to improve communication between the Auto-Door, the TL-Timer Board, and the AutoFocus Board.
Enhanced Door Status Detection: Ensures the door position is accurately tracked across every stage of the opening sequence.
Safety & Flow Control: Ensures machine processing will only commence once the door has completed its full movement cycle.
This behavior only affects a small batch of Aurora machines with the auto-door feature.
Affected Customers: Our support team is proactively reaching out to customers with identified units to provide an updated AutoFocus Board free of charge, along with step-by-step physical replacement instructions.
Unsure if your machine is affected? If you experience any delay or status mismatch when starting jobs while the auto-door is opening, please open a support ticket with your machine Serial Number.
While waiting for your firmware update or board replacement, you can avoid this behavior by following this simple best practice:
💡 Best Practice: Always allow the auto-door to complete its full opening cycle before pressing Start in LightBurn/RDWorks.
