Air Pressure Sensor Zero Calibration and Parameter Check

1. Why Is Zero Calibration & Other Setting varification Necessary?

Air pressure sensors are sensitive electronic components that measure pressure based on very small internal signal changes.
During normal operation, factors such as:
Ambient temperature changes
Seasonal weather variations
Altitude differences
Long-term component drift
Transportation and installation conditions
may cause the sensor's standby reading to gradually shift from its original zero point.
As a result, the displayed pressure value may show a small offset even when no air pressure is being applied.
This is a normal characteristic of pressure sensors and does not indicate a defect.
During normal machine operation, maintenance, or cleaning, some sensor settings may be accidentally changed. This can cause abnormal machine behavior, pressure alarms, or incorrect pressure readings.
Therefore, to maintain accurate pressure monitoring, we recommend periodically checking the sensor reading and performing a zero calibration whenever necessary.

2.  When a Re-calibration is needed?

Notes

Normally, the air pressure detection threshold is set to 0.3 psi by default. If the detected air pressure drops below 0.3 psi while the laser is operating, the machine will stop and a warning message will appear on the control panel. This safety function helps ensure sufficient airflow to protect the lens from dust and debris and reduce the risk of the material catching fire due to insufficient airflow.

The air pressure sensor uses the 0.3 psi threshold to determine its output status. When the detected air pressure reaches or exceeds this threshold, the sensor outputs an OUT1 signal to the controller. Therefore, if the sensor detects a pressure above 0.3 psi even while the machine is in standby, OUT1 may remain continuously active.


In addition, the pressure detection threshold may be accidentally changed to a higher or lower value due to unintended operation. A continuously active OUT1 signal or an incorrect pressure threshold may result in abnormal signal output from the sensor, potentially interfering with the normal operation of the controller and causing the following issues:

1. When File is selected on the control panel, the screen remains stuck on “Loading...”


2. A file is successfully sent to the machine but does not appear on the control panel. The machine must be restarted before the file is displayed.

3. File parameters displayed on the control panel, such as the power value, may change randomly. 


4. The X/Y/Z-axis coordinate values may become abnormal, and the IP address may change unexpectedly.


5. Sensors on the Diagnostics screen may be triggered randomly.  


6. When the Auto Focus button on the control panel is pressed, the following message appears: “Z auto-focus function is not enabled. Please confirm!”


7. When the Frame button is pressed, the laser head will run the frame once. However, when the Frame button is pressed again, the laser head will not move.

8. After pressing the Start button on the control panel to begin processing, the processing progress remains at 0%.

3. How to Re-calibrate the Air Pressure Sensor

Note: After entering the menu page (SET page), usually press SET (S) button to change pages, press Up or Down button to switch setting in a certain page, press and hold SET (S) button to enter or exit menu page. For details please check the attached documents at the bottom.
Note: Three different air pressure sensor models have been used across different production batches. Please identify the sensor installed on your machine by comparing it with the images below, then follow the corresponding setup video, instructions, and documentation for that model.

Before Calibration

Before performing zero calibration, please make sure:
1.  The machine is powered on.
2.  The sensor is in standby mode.
3.  No air pressure is applied to the sensor.
Let's only perform the calibration when the sensor is under true zero-pressure conditions.

Besides, some sensors have lock and unlock feature to avoid accidenty press and change. Please unlock the sensor button for the check and reset. And please lock the buttons after all is done.
